Deuteronomy28

And it will happen, if you truly listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, taking care to do all his commandments that I am commanding you today, then Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the land.

And all these blessings will come upon you and will overtake you, if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.

Blessed are you in the city, and blessed are you in the field.

Blessed is the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock, the young of your cattle and the lambs of your flock.

Blessed is your basket and your kneading-trough.

Blessed are you in your coming in, and blessed are you in your going out.

Yahweh will make your enemies who rise up against you struck down before you; they will come out against you by one road, and by seven roads they will flee before you.

Yahweh will command the blessing to be with you in your barns and in all that you reach out your hand to, and he will bless you in the land that Yahweh your God is giving you.

Yahweh will raise you up as a holy people for himself, just as he swore to you, if you keep the commandments of Yahweh your God and walk in his ways.

And all the peoples of the land will see that the name of Yahweh is called over you, and they will be afraid of you.

And Yahweh will make you abound for good, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, on the ground that Yahweh swore to your fathers to give you.

Yahweh will open for you his good treasury, the skies, to give the rain of your land in its time and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.

Yahweh will set you as the head and not as the tail, and you will be only above and not be below, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God that I am commanding you today, to keep and to do.

And you will not turn aside from any of the words that I am commanding you today, to the right or to the left, to walk after other gods to serve them.

And it will happen, if you do not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep and to do all his commandments and his statutes that I am commanding you today, then all these curses will come upon you and will overtake you.

Cursed are you in the city, and cursed are you in the field.

Cursed is your basket and your kneading-trough.

Cursed is the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, the young of your cattle and the lambs of your flock.

Cursed are you in your coming in, and cursed are you in your going out.

Yahweh will send upon you the curse, the panic, and the rebuke in all that you reach out your hand to do, until you are wiped out and until you perish quickly, because of the evil of your deeds, in that you forsook me.

And Yahweh will make the pestilence cling to you until he has made an end of you from off the ground that you are going into, to take possession of it.

Yahweh will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with scorching heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew; they will pursue you until you perish.

Your skies that are over your head will be bronze, and the land that is under you will be iron.

Yahweh will make the rain of your land dust and powder; from the skies it will come down upon you until you are wiped out.

Yahweh will make you struck down before your enemies; you will go out against them by one road, and by seven roads you will flee before them. And you will become a horror to all the kingdoms of the land.

And your carcass will be food for every bird of the skies and for the beasts of the land, with no one to frighten them away.

Yahweh will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with scab, and with itch, from which you will not be able to be healed.

Yahweh will strike you with madness, with blindness, and with bewilderment of heart.

And you will be groping at midday, as the blind person gropes in the darkness, and you will not bring success to your ways; you will be only oppressed and robbed all the days, with no one to save you.

You will betroth a woman, but another man will lie with her; you will build a house, but you will not dwell in it; you will plant a vineyard, but you will not put it to common use.

Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, and you will not eat from it; your donkey will be seized from before your face and will not come back to you; your flock will be given to your enemies, and there will be no deliverer for you.

Your sons and your daughters will be given to another people, and your eyes will look on and fail with longing for them all day long, and there will be no power in your hand.

A people you have not known will eat the fruit of your ground and all your toil, and you will be only oppressed and crushed all your days.

And you will be driven mad by the sight that your eyes will see.

Yahweh will strike you with a bad boil on the knees and on the legs, from which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head.

Yahweh will lead you and your king, whom you will raise up over you to a nation that you have not known, you and your fathers, and there you will serve other gods, wood and stone.

And you will become a horror, a proverb, and a taunt among all the peoples to which Yahweh will drive you.

You will take much seed out to the field, but you will gather little, for the locust will consume it.

You will plant vineyards and work them, but you will not drink wine and will not gather it, for the worm will eat it.

Olive trees will be yours throughout all your territory, but you will not anoint yourself with oil, for your olives will drop off.

You will father sons and daughters, but they will not be yours, for they will go into captivity.

The whirring cricket will take possession of all your trees and the fruit of your ground.

The sojourner who is in your midst will go up over you higher and higher, and you will go down lower and lower.

He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him; he will become the head, and you will become the tail.

All these curses will come upon you and will pursue you and will overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep his commands and his statutes that he commanded you.

They will be a sign and a wonder on you and on your seed forever.

Because you did not serve Yahweh your God with gladness and goodness of heart in the abundance of everything.

You will serve your enemies, whom Yahweh will send against you, in hunger and thirst and nakedness and lack of everything; and he will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

Yahweh will raise up against you a nation from far away, from the end of the land, as the eagle swoops, a nation whose tongue you will not understand,

a nation fierce of face, that will not lift up a face for the old, and will not show favor to the youth.

It will eat the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your ground until you are destroyed; it will not leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the offspring of your cattle or the young of your flock, until it has made you perish.

It will press hard on you in all your gates until your high and fortified walls come down, those you trust in them throughout all your land; yes, it will press hard on you in all your gates, throughout all your land that Yahweh your God has given you.

You will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom Yahweh your God has given you, in the siege and in the straits with which your enemy will press you.

The tender man among you, the very dainty one, his eye will be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the rest of his children whom he leaves over.

so as not to give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating, because he has nothing left, in the siege and in the straits with which your enemy will press you in all your gates.

The tender woman among you, the dainty one, who has not tried to set the sole of her foot on the land out of daintiness and softness, her eye will be evil toward the man of her bosom, and toward her son and her daughter.

and toward her afterbirth that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she will bear; for she will eat them in the lack of everything, in secret, in the siege and in the straits with which your enemy will press you in your gates.

If you do not take care to do all the words of this instruction that are written in this scroll, to fear this weighty and fearsome name, Yahweh your God,

then Yahweh will make a wonder of your blows and the blows of your seed, great and lasting blows, and evil and lasting sicknesses.

He will bring back on you all the sicknesses of Egypt that you were afraid of them, and they will cling to you.

Also every sickness and every blow that is not written in the scroll of this instruction, Yahweh will bring them up on you until you are destroyed.

And you will be left a few men, in place of being like the stars of the skies in multitude, because you did not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.

And it will happen that just as Yahweh rejoiced over you, doing you good and multiplying you, so Yahweh will rejoice over you, making you perish and wiping you out; and you will be uprooted from the ground where you are entering to take possession of it.

And Yahweh will scatter you among all the peoples, from one end of the land to the other end of the land; and there you will serve other gods, which you have not known, you and your fathers, wood and stone.

And among those nations you will not be at ease, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot; and Yahweh will give you there a trembling heart, a failing of the eyes, and a languishing of the being.

And your life will be hanging before you, and you will be in dread night and by day, and you will not trust in your life.

In the morning you will say, "If only it were evening!" and in the evening you will say, "If only it were morning!" because of the dread of your heart that you will dread, and because of the sight of your eyes that you will see.

And Yahweh will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way of which I said to you, "You will never see it again"; and there you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male slaves and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.
