Deuteronomy18

There shall be no portion or inheritance for the priests, the Levites, the whole tribe of Levi, with Israel; they shall eat the fire offerings of Yahweh and his inheritance.

And there shall be no inheritance for him in the midst of his brothers; Yahweh is his inheritance, just as he spoke to him.

And this shall be the right of the priests from the people, from those who sacrifice the sacrifice, whether ox or sheep: and he shall give to the priest the arm, the two cheeks, and the fourth stomach.

The first of your grain, your new wine, and your fresh oil, and the first of the fleece of your flock you shall give to him.

For Yahweh your God has chosen him from all your tribes, to stand and serve in the name of Yahweh, he and his sons, all the days.

And if the Levite comes from one of your gates, from all Israel, where he sojourns there, and comes with all the desire of his being to the place that Yahweh will choose.

then he shall serve in the name of Yahweh his God, like all his brothers the Levites who stand there before the face of Yahweh.

Portion like portion they shall eat, apart from his sales on account of the fathers.

When you come into the land that Yahweh your God is giving you, you will not learn to do like the abominations of those nations.

No one will be found among you who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, who divines divinations, a soothsayer, one who watches for signs, a sorcerer,

or one who ties a spell, or one who consults a medium or a spiritist, or one who inquires of the dead.

For everyone who does these things is an abomination to Yahweh, and because of these abominations Yahweh your God is dispossessing them from before your face.

You will be whole with Yahweh your God.

For these nations, whom you are dispossessing, listen to soothsayers and to diviners; but as for you, Yahweh your God has not given you the same.

Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet like me, from among you, from your brothers; to him you are to listen.

according to all that you asked of Yahweh your God at Horeb, on the day of the assembly, saying, 'I will not go on hearing the voice of Yahweh my God, and this great fire I will not see any longer, so that I will not die.'

And Yahweh said to me, 'They have done well in what they have spoken.'

I will raise up for them a prophet from the midst of their brothers like you; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him.

And it will be that the man who does not listen to my words that he speaks in my name, I myself will require it from him.

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I did not command him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods — that prophet will die.

And if you say in your heart, 'How will we know the word that Yahweh has not spoken?'

Whatever the prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh, and the word does not happen and does not come, that is the word that Yahweh has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it with presumption. You will not shrink back from him.
