You must not sacrifice to Yahweh your God an ox or a sheep that has a blemish in it, any evil word, for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.
If a man or a woman is found in your midst, in one of your gates that Yahweh your God is giving you, who does the evil in the eyes of Yahweh your God, by crossing over his covenant,
and goes and serves other gods and bows down to them, and to the sun or to the moon or to all the host of the skies, which I have not commanded,
and it is told to you, and you hear, and you inquire thoroughly; and look, it is true, the word is established: this abomination has been done in Israel,
then you shall bring out that man or that woman who did this evil word to your gates, the man or the woman, and you shall stone them with stones, and they shall die.
On the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the mouth of one witness.
The hand of the witnesses shall be on him first, to put him to death, and the hand of all the people last; and you shall purge the evil from your midst.
If a word is too wondrous for you where justice is concerned, between blood and blood, between case and case, and between blow and blow, the words of disputes in your gates, then you shall rise and go up to the place that Yahweh your God will choose.
And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge who is in those days, and you shall inquire, and they shall tell you the word of justice.
And you shall do according to the mouth of the word that they tell you from that place that Yahweh chooses, and you shall watch to do according to all that they instruct you.
According to the mouth of the instruction that they point out to you, and according to the justice that they say to you, you shall do; you shall not turn aside from the word that they tell you, to the right or to the left.
And the man who acts presumptuously, by not hearing the priest who stands there to serve Yahweh your God, or the judge, that man shall die; and you shall purge the evil from Israel.
And all the people shall hear, and be afraid, and they shall not act presumptuously again.
When you come into the land that Yahweh your God is giving you, and take possession of it, and dwell in it, and you say, Let me put over me a king, like all the nations that are around me,
You shall surely put over you a king whom Yahweh your God will choose; from the midst of your brothers you shall set over you a king; you cannot put over you a foreign man who is not your brother.
Only he must not multiply horses for himself, and he must not bring back the people to Egypt, so as to multiply horses; for Yahweh has said to you, You shall not return by this road again.
And he must not multiply wives for himself, and his heart must not turn aside; and silver and gold he must not multiply for himself greatly.
And it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this instruction on a scroll, from the face of the priests, the Levites.
And it shall be with him, and he shall read aloud in it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear Yahweh his God, to keep all the words of this instruction and these statutes, to do them,
so that his heart is not lifted high above his brothers, and so that he does not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or to the left, so that he may prolong days over his kingdom, he and his sons, in the midst of Israel.
