¹These are the statutes and the justices that you will keep and do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to occupy, all the days that you are alive on the ground.

²You will utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you are dispossessing served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.

³You will pull down their altars and shatter their pillars, and you will burn their Asherah poles in the fire; and the idols of their gods you will cut down, and you will destroy their name from that place.

⁴You will not do so to Yahweh your God.

⁵But to the place which Yahweh your God will choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, to make it dwell, you will seek, and there you will come.

⁶And there you will bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tenths and the contribution of your hand and your vows and your free offerings and the firstborn of your herd and your flock.

⁷And there you will eat before the face of Yahweh your God, and you will rejoice in every undertaking of your hand, you and your households, with which Yahweh your God has blessed you.

⁸You will not do according to all that we are doing here today, each man doing all that is right in his own eyes.

⁹For until now you have not come to the rest and to the inheritance which Yahweh your God is giving you.

¹⁰But you will cross the Jordan and dwell in the land which Yahweh your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies round about, and you will dwell in security.

¹¹And it will come about that the place which Yahweh your God will choose to make his name dwell there, there you will bring all that I am commanding you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tenths and the contribution of your hand, and all the choicest of your vows which you will vow to Yahweh.

¹²And you will rejoice before the face of Yahweh your God, you and your sons and your daughters and your slaves and your maidservants and the Levite who is in your gates, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.

¹³Guard yourself, lest you bring up your burnt offerings in every place which you see.

¹⁴But only in the place which Yahweh will choose in one of your tribes, there you will bring up your burnt offerings, and there you will do all that I am commanding you.

¹⁵Only, in all the desire of your being you may slaughter and eat flesh, according to the blessing of Yahweh your God which he has given you in all your gates; the unclean and the clean may eat it, like the gazelle and like the deer.

¹⁶Only the blood you will not eat; you will pour it out on the land like water.

¹⁷You will not be able to eat in your gates the tenth of your grain and your new wine and your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, and all your vows which you vow, and your free offerings and the contribution of your hand.

¹⁸But before the face of Yahweh your God you will eat it, in the place which Yahweh your God will choose, you and your son and your daughter and your slave and your maidservant and the Levite who is in your gates; and you will rejoice before the face of Yahweh your God in every undertaking of your hand.

¹⁹Guard yourself, lest you forsake the Levite all your days on your ground.

²⁰When Yahweh your God enlarges your boundary, just as he spoke to you, and you say, Let me eat flesh, because your being desires to eat flesh, then in all the desire of your being you may eat flesh.

²¹If the place where Yahweh your God will choose to put his name is too far from you, then you will sacrifice some of your herd and of your flock which Yahweh has given you, just as I commanded you, and you will eat in your gates in all the desire of your being.

²²Only, as the gazelle and the deer are eaten, so you will eat it; the unclean and the clean will eat it together.

²³Only be strong not to eat the blood, for the blood is the living being, and you must not eat the living being with the flesh.

²⁴You will not eat it; you will pour it out on the land like water.

²⁵You will not eat it, so that it may go well for you and for your sons after you, when you do what is right in the eyes of Yahweh.

²⁶Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you will lift up and come to the place which Yahweh will choose.

²⁷And you will make your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of Yahweh your God; and the blood of your sacrifices will be poured out on the altar of Yahweh your God, and the flesh you will eat.

²⁸Keep and hear all these words which I am commanding you, so that it may go well for you and for your sons after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

²⁹When Yahweh your God cuts off from your face the nations that you are going into there to occupy them, and you occupy them and dwell in their land,

³⁰Guard yourself, lest you be ensnared after them, after they are wiped out from your face, and lest you inquire of their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? I will do the same, I also.

³¹You must not do so to Yahweh your God, for every abomination of Yahweh that he hates they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire for their gods.

³²Every word that I am commanding you, keep it and do it; you must not add to it, and you must not diminish from it.
