¹At that time Yahweh said to me, 'Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the first ones, and come up to me on the mountain, and make for yourself an ark of wood.'

²And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.

³So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut out two tablets of stone like the first ones, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.

⁴And he wrote on the tablets, like the first writing, the ten words that Yahweh had spoken to you on the mountain, out of the middle of the fire, on the day of the assembly; and Yahweh gave them to me.

⁵Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark that I had made; and they have been there, just as Yahweh commanded me.

⁶And the children of Israel set out from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah; there Aaron died and was buried there, and Eleazar his son served as priest in his place.

⁷From there they set out to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of wadis of water.

⁸At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, to stand before the face of Yahweh, to serve him, and to bless in his name, until this day.

⁹Therefore Levi has had no portion or inheritance with his brothers; Yahweh himself is his inheritance, just as Yahweh your God spoke to him.

¹⁰And I stood on the mountain as in the first days, forty days and forty nights; and Yahweh listened to me that time also; Yahweh was not willing to ruin you.

¹¹And Yahweh said to me, 'Rise, go on the march before the face of the people, so that they may enter and take possession of the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.'

¹²And now, Israel, what is Yahweh your God asking of you, except to fear Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your being,

¹³to keep the commandments of Yahweh and his statutes, which I am commanding you today, for your good.

¹⁴Look, to Yahweh your God belong the skies, even the sky of the skies, the land and all that is in it.

¹⁵Only to your fathers was Yahweh attached, to love them; and he chose their seed after them, you, out of all the peoples, as it is today.

¹⁶And you shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and you shall not stiffen your neck any more.

¹⁷For Yahweh your God, he is the God of the gods and the Lord of the lords, the great God, the mighty one, and the fearsome one, who does not show partiality and does not take a bribe.

¹⁸who does justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.

¹⁹And you shall love the sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

²⁰Yahweh your God you shall fear; him you shall serve, and to him you shall cling, and by his name you shall swear.

²¹He is your praise, and he is your God, who did for you these great and awe-inspiring things that your eyes have seen.

²²With seventy living beings your fathers went down to Egypt, and now Yahweh your God has made you like the stars of the skies in multitude.
