¹Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their masters: Bring it, and let us drink!

²The Adonai Yahweh has sworn by his holiness: Look, days are coming upon you when you will be carried off with barbs, and the last of you with fishing hooks.

³And through the breaches you will go out, each woman straight before her; and you will be cast toward Harmon — the utterance of Yahweh.

⁴Come to Beth-el and rebel; at Gilgal, rebel all the more; and bring your sacrifices each morning, your tithes every three days.

⁵Offer by burning a thank-offering from what is leavened, and call out freewill offerings, make them heard; for this is what you have loved, people of Israel — the utterance of the Adonai Yahweh.

⁶And also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places, yet you did not return to me — the utterance of Yahweh.

⁷And I also held back the rain from you, with still three months before the harvest. I sent rain on one city and on another city I did not send rain; one part was rained on, and the part on which I sent no rain dried up.

⁸Two or three cities staggered to one city to drink water, but were not satisfied; yet you did not return to me — the utterance of Yahweh.

⁹I struck you with blight and with mildew; when your gardens and your vineyards, your fig trees and your olive trees multiplied, the locust ate them; yet you did not return to me — the utterance of Yahweh.

¹⁰I sent a pestilence among you in the manner of Egypt; I killed your young men with the sword, along with the capture of your horses; I brought up the stench of your camp, even into your nose; yet you did not return to me — the utterance of Yahweh.

¹¹I overthrew some among you, like God's overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand snatched from the burning; yet you did not return to me — the utterance of Yahweh.

¹²To the so like this I will make to you, O Israel; because I will make this to you, establish yourself to encounter your God, O Israel.

¹³For look: the one who formed mountains, and the one who created the wind, and the one who tells man what his thought is, the one who makes dawn darkness, and the one who treads on the high places of the land — Yahweh, God of armies, is his name.
