Acts21

Then after it happened that we had sailed, having drawn away from them, when we had run directly, we came to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.

And when we had found a boat passing over into Phoenicia, we had gone on board and set sail.

Then when we had sighted Cyprus and had left it on the left, we were sailing to Syria, and we disembarked at Tyre; for there the ship was unloading the cargo.

And when we had sought out the disciples, we remained there seven days, who through the Spirit were telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.

When then it happened that we were completing the days, when we had set out, we were journeying, while everyone with wives and children accompanied us as far as outside the city; and having bowed the knees on the shore, having prayed,

we greeted one another and we went up into the boat, then they returned to their own.

Then we ourselves, when we had completed the voyage from Tyre, came down to Ptolemais, and having greeted the brothers, we stayed one day with them.

Now on the next day those with Paul went forth, and we came to Caesarea; and when we had entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who is of the seven, we stayed with him.

Now with this man there were four daughters, virgins, prophesying.

Now as we remained many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea,

and when he had come to us and had taken the belt of Paul, he bound both his own feet and hands, and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, The man whose belt this is, in this way will the Jews bind in Jerusalem, and will deliver him into the hands of the nations.

Then when we had heard these things, both we ourselves and those of that place were begging him not to go up to Jerusalem.

Then Paul answered, What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? for I myself have readiness not only to be bound but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Then, he not being persuaded, we were silent, having said, The will of the Lord should be done.

Now after these days, having packed the baggage, we were ascending to Jerusalem.

Then some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us also, bringing one with whom we may lodge, a certain Mnason, a Cypriot, an early disciple.

Now when we had arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers gladly received us.

Now on the following day Paul was going in with us unto James, and all the elders arrived.

And having greeted them, he was relating one by one the things God did among the nations through his ministry.

Then when they had heard, they were glorifying God; then they said to him, You see, brother, how many myriads there are among the Jews who have trusted, and all are zealous ones for the law.

Now they have been informed about you that you teach apostasy from Moses to all the Jews among the nations, telling them not to circumcise the children nor to walk in the customs.

Then what is it? Certainly the multitude should assemble, for they will hear that you have come.

Therefore do this what we say to you. There are with us four men having a vow on themselves;

take these men, be purified with them and bear the expense for them, so that they will shave the head, and all will know that of which they have been informed about you is no thing, but that you walk orderly, also yourself keeping the law.

Now concerning those of the nations having believed, we ourselves wrote, having adjudged them to keep nothing such, only except to keep themselves from both the idol-sacrifices and the blood and what is strangled and sexual immorality.

Then Paul, having taken the men, on the following day having been purified with them, was entering into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of the purification, until the sacrifice was offered for each one of them.

Now when the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, having seen him in the temple, were stirring up all the crowd and laid their hands upon him,

crying out, Men of Israel, help. This is the man teaching everywhere all those against the people and the law and this place; besides, also he has brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.

For they had foreseen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they were supposing that Paul had brought into the temple.

The whole city also was thrown into commotion, and there was a rushing together of the people; and having laid hold of Paul, they were dragging him outside the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.

Then as they were seeking to kill him, a report came to the commander of the cohort that all Jerusalem is in an uproar;

who at once, having taken with him soldiers and centurions, ran down upon them. And when they had seen the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

Then when he had drawn near, the commander laid his hold, and he commanded him to be bound with two chains, and he was inquiring who he might be and what it is he had done.

However, others in the crowd were crying out one thing or another; now, he not being able to know the facts on account of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the barracks.

Now when he came to the stairs, it happened that he was being carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;

for the multitude of the people were following, crying out, Away with him.

Then being about to be brought into the barracks, Paul says to the commander, If it is permitted to me to say something to you? Then he was saying, Do you know Greek?

Surely you yourself are the Egyptian who before these days led a revolt and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?

However, Paul said, I myself am indeed a man, a Jew of Tarsus of Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; however I implore you, allow me to speak to the people.

Then when he was permitting, Paul, having stood on the stairs, made a sign with the hand to the people, and great silence having taken place, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:
