3 John1

1The elder, to the beloved Gaius, whom I myself love in truth.

2Beloved, concerning all things I pray that you do well and be in good health, even as your being does well.

3For I rejoiced exceedingly when the brothers were coming and bearing witness of you to the truth, even as you yourself are walking in truth.

4I have no joy greater than these things, that I may hear of my children walking in the truth.

5Beloved, you are doing faithfully whatever you shall do for the brothers, and for that, strangers,

6who testified of your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their way worthily of God.

7For on behalf of the name they went forth, accepting nothing from the Gentile people.

8Therefore we ourselves ought to receive such men, so that we may be fellow workers in the truth.

9I have written something to the assembly, but the one loving to be first among them, Diotrephes, does not welcome us.

10Because of this, if I shall come, I will bring to his remembrance the works which he is doing, prating against us with evil words; and not being satisfied with these, neither does he himself receive the brothers, and those who purpose he forbids, and he casts them out from the assembly.

11Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one doing good is of God; the one doing evil has not seen God.

12To Demetrius witness has been given by all and by the truth itself; and we ourselves also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true.

13Many things I had to write to you, but I do not desire to write to you with ink and pen;

14However, I hope to see you soon, and we will speak mouth to mouth.

15Wholeness to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
