Paul, a sent one of the Anointed One Jesus through the will of God, according to the promise of life that is in the Anointed One Jesus,
to Timothy, my beloved child: Favor, compassion, and wholeness from God the Father and the Anointed One Jesus our Lord.
Thankful I am to God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a clean conscience, as unceasingly I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day,
longing to see you, having recalled your tears, so that with joy I may be filled,
when I had taken remembrance of the sincere trust within you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and now I have been persuaded that it is in you also.
For this reason I remind you to kindle anew the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands;
for God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and love and of self-control.
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of myself his prisoner, but suffer together for the good news according to the power of God,
the One who, having saved us and having called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to His own purpose and favor, which has been given us in the Anointed One Jesus before eternal times,
and has now been made manifest also through the appearing of our Savior the Anointed One Jesus, who has indeed abolished death, and has brought to light life and immortality through the good news,
to which I myself was appointed a herald and a sent one and a teacher of nations;
for this reason also I suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know in whom I have believed, and I have been persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit entrusted to Him for that very day.
Hold the pattern of sound words that you heard from me, in the trust and love that are in the Anointed One Jesus;
the good entrusted deposit keep through the Holy Spirit who is dwelling in us.
You know this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
Would the Lord grant compassion to the household of Onesiphorus, because often he refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain,
but having arrived in Rome he earnestly sought me out and found me;
would the Lord grant unto him to find compassion from the Lord in that very day! And how much he served very well in Ephesus, you yourself know.
