David said, Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may do loyal love with him for the sake of Jonathan?
The house of Saul had a slave whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, Are you Ziba? And he said, Your slave.
The king said, Is there no one still of the house of Saul, that I may do the loyal love of God with him? And Ziba said to the king, There is still a son of Jonathan, crippled in both feet.
The king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said to the king, Here he is, in the house of Machir son of Ammiel at Lo-debar.
King David sent and took him from the house of Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.
Mephibosheth son of Jonathan son of Saul came to David and fell on his face and bowed down. David said, Mephibosheth, and he said, Here is your slave.
David said to him, Do not be afraid, for I will surely do loyal love with you for the sake of Jonathan your father, and I will return to you all the fields of Saul your father, and you will eat food at my table continually.
He bowed down and said, What is your slave, that you have turned to a dead dog like me?
The king summoned Ziba, the servant of Saul, and said to him, All that belonged to Saul and to all his household I have given to the son of your lord.
You will work the ground for him, you and your sons and your slaves, and you will bring it in, and it will be food to the son of your lord, and he will eat it; but Mephibosheth the son of your lord will eat food at my table continually. And to Ziba were fifteen sons and twenty slaves.
Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king commands his slave, so your slave will do. And Mephibosheth was eating at my table like one of the sons of the king.
Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica; and all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were slaves to Mephibosheth.
Mephibosheth dwelled in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the table of the king, and he was lame in both of his feet.
