2 Samuel8

1It happened after this that David struck the Philistines and humbled them, and David took Metheg-ha-Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.

2He struck Moab and measured them off with the rope, making them lie down on the land. He measured off two ropes to put to death, and a full rope to let live. So Moab became slaves to David, carrying tribute.

3David struck Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to restore his hand at the River Euphrates.

7David took the shields of gold that belonged to the slaves of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.

9Toi the king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer.

10Toi sent Joram his son to King David, to ask him about his wholeness and to bless him, because he had waged war against Hadadezer and struck him, for Hadadezer had been a man of wars against Toi; and in his hand were articles of silver and articles of gold and articles of bronze.

11King David also set these apart to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he had set apart from all the nations that he had subdued.

12From Aram and from Moab and from the children of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek, and from the plunder of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13David made a name when he returned from striking Aram in the Valley of Salt, eighteen thousand.

14He set garrisons in Edom; throughout Edom he set garrisons, and all Edom became slaves to David. And Yahweh saved David wherever he went.

15David reigned over all Israel, and David was doing justice and righteousness for all his people.

16And Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder.

17And Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was scribe.

18And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and the Pelethites, and the children of David were priests.
