David spoke to Yahweh the words of this song on the day Yahweh delivered him from the palm of all his enemies and from the palm of Saul.
And he said, "Yahweh is my crag and my stronghold and my deliverer for me;
the God of my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my secure height and my place of escape; my deliverer, you deliver me from violence.
I call out to Yahweh, the one to be praised, and from my enemies I am saved.
For the breakers of death surrounded me; the torrents of worthlessness overwhelmed me.
The cords of Sheol circled me; the snares of death confronted me.
When I was in a tight place, I called out to Yahweh, and to my God I called out; and from his temple he heard my voice, and my cry for help was in his ears.
Then the land shook and quaked; the foundations of the skies trembled and reeled, for he burned with anger.
Smoke went up in his nostril, and fire from his mouth devoured; coals burned out of him.
He bent the skies and came down, and thick dark cloud was under his feet.
He rode on a cherub and flew; he was seen on the wings of the wind.
He set darkness around him as shelters, a mass of waters, the dark clouds of the clouds.
From the brightness in front of him, coals of fire burned.
Yahweh thundered from the skies, and the Most High gave his voice.
He sent arrows and scattered them, lightning, and threw them into confusion.
Then the channels of the sea were seen, the foundations of the world were uncovered, at the rebuke of Yahweh, at the breathing of the breath of his nostril.
He stretched out from the height, he took hold of me, he drew me out of great waters.
He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hate me, for they were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but Yahweh was a support for me.
He brought me out to a roomy place; he pulled me free, for he delighted in me.
Yahweh dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he repaid me.
For I kept the ways of Yahweh, and I have not acted wickedly away from my God.
For all his justice was before me, and from his statutes I did not turn aside.
I was blameless toward him, and I kept myself from my guilt.
And Yahweh repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes.
With the kind you show yourself kind; with the mighty man who is blameless you show yourself blameless.
With one who purifies himself you show yourself pure, and with the perverse you show yourself twisted.
And a poor people you save, and your eyes are on the high — you bring them low.
For you are my lamp, Yahweh, and Yahweh lights my darkness.
For by you I run at a marauding band, by my God I leap over a wall.
God — his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
For who is God except Yahweh, and who is a rock except our God?
God is my stronghold of strength, and he frees my way, blameless.
He makes my feet like those of does, and on my high places he makes me stand.
He teaches my hands for war, and my arms press down a bow of bronze.
You gave me the shield of your salvation, and your humility makes me great.
You widened my steps under me, and my ankles did not slip.
I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, and I did not turn back until they were finished.
I finished them off, and I shattered them, and they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet.
You girded me with strength for the war; you made those who rose against me crouch beneath me.
As for my enemies, you made them turn their backs to me; and those who hate me, I put an end to them.
They gazed about, but there was no deliverer; they gazed to Yahweh, but he did not answer them.
I pounded them fine like the dust of the land; like the mud of the streets, I crushed them, I stamped them out.
You rescued me from the strife of my people; you kept me as the head of nations; a people I did not know serve me.
The sons of foreigners cringe to me; at the hearing of the ear they obey me.
The sons of foreigners wither, and gird themselves out of their strongholds.
Yahweh lives, and blessed is my boulder, and let the God of the rock of my salvation be high;
the God who gives vengeance to me, and brings down peoples under me;
who brings me out from my enemies, and from those who rise against me you lift me high; from the man of violence you rescue me.
Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations, and to your name I will make music.
A tower of deliverances of his king, who deals loyal love to his anointed, to David and to his seed forever.
