2 Kings15

1In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam the king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah the king of Judah reigned.

2He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

3He did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Amaziah his father had done.

4Only the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and making offerings smoke on the high places.

5Yahweh struck the king, and he was skin-diseased until the day of his death, and he dwelled in a house of separateness; and Jotham the king's son was over the household, judging the people of the land.

6And the rest of the words of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the scroll of the words of the days for the kings of Judah?

7And Azariah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Jotham his son reigned in his place.

8In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria six months.

9He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh, as his fathers had done; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

10And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him down before the people, and put him to death, and reigned in his place.

11And the rest of the words of Zechariah, behold, they are written on the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Israel.

12This is the word of Yahweh that he had spoken to Jehu, saying, “Sons of the fourth generation will sit for you on the throne of Israel.” And so it was.

13Shallum the son of Jabesh reigned in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah the king of Judah, and he reigned for a full month in Samaria.

14And Menahem the son of Gadi came up from Tirzah and came to Samaria; he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, put him to death, and reigned in his place.

15And the rest of the words of Shallum, and his conspiracy that he conspired, behold, they are written on the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Israel.

16Then Menahem struck Tiphsah, and all who were in it, and its territories from Tirzah, because it did not open; so he struck it, and he ripped open all its pregnant women.

17In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi reigned over Israel ten years in Samaria.

18He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh; all his days he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

19Pul the king of Assyria came against the land; and Menahem gave a thousand talents of silver to Pul, so that his hands would be with him, to strengthen the kingdom in his hand.

20And Menahem brought out the silver upon Israel, upon all the mighty men of wealth, to give to the king of Assyria fifty shekels of silver for each man. So the king of Assyria turned back and did not remain there in the land.

21And the rest of the words of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the scroll of the words of the days for the kings of Israel?

22And Menahem lay down with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his place.

23In the fiftieth year of Azariah the king of Judah, Pekahiah the son of Menahem reigned over Israel in Samaria two years.

24He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

25And Pekah the son of Remaliah, his officer, conspired against him and struck him down in Samaria, in the citadel of the house of the king, with Argob and with Arieh; and with him were fifty men from the sons of the Gileadites; and he put him to death and reigned in his place.

26And the rest of the words of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written on the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Israel.

27In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty years.

28He did evil in the eyes of Yahweh; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which made Israel sin.

29In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel Beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and the Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them off into exile to Assyria.

30Hoshea son of Elah conspired a conspiracy against Pekah son of Remaliah, struck him down, put him to death, and reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

31And the rest of the words of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the record of the words of the days of the kings of Israel.

32In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah reigned.

33He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and the name of his mother was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.

34He did what was right and well-pleasing in the eyes of Yahweh; just as all that Uzziah his father had done, he did.

35Only the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and making smoke on the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh.

36And the rest of the words of Jotham, all that he did, are they not written in the record of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

37In those days Yahweh began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.

38And Jotham lay down with his fathers and was interred with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
