2 Chronicles8

1And it came about, at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon built the house of Yahweh and his own house,

2and the cities that Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, and he made the children of Israel dwell there.

3And Solomon went to Hamath Zobah, and prevailed over it.

4And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities that he built in Hamath.

5And he built Beth-horon the upper and Beth-horon the lower, fortress cities with walls, doors, and a bar;

6and Baalath, and all the storage cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the chariot cities and the cities of the horsemen, and all that Solomon delighted in, which he desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

7All the people who remained of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not from Israel:

8from their sons who remained after them in the land, whom the children of Israel had not finished off—Solomon brought them up to forced labor until this day.

9But from the children of Israel, Solomon made no servants for his work; for they were men of war, and chiefs of his adjutants, and chiefs of his chariotry and his horsemen.

10And these were the chiefs of the deputies who belonged to King Solomon: two hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people.

11And Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter up from the city of David to the house that he had built for her; for he said, 'No wife of mine shall dwell in the house of David king of Israel, for they are holy, since the ark of Yahweh has come to them.'

12Then Solomon brought up burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh that he had built in front of the porch,

13and by the word of each day, on its day, bringing up offerings according to the commandment of Moses, for the sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed times, three times a year: at the festival of unleavened bread, the festival of weeks, and the festival of shelters.

14And he appointed, according to the custom of David his father, the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites over their duties, to praise and to minister before the priests, for the word of the day, on its day; and the gatekeepers by their divisions for each gate; for so was the commandment of David the man of God.

15And they did not turn aside from the commandment of the king concerning the priests and the Levites, in any word, or concerning the treasuries.

16So all the work of Solomon was established until the day of the foundation of the house of Yahweh, and until its completion. The house of Yahweh was complete.

17Then Solomon went to Etsjon-geber and to Elath over the edge of the sea in the land of Edom.

18And Huram sent him, by the hand of his servants, ships and servants who knew the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought it to King Solomon.
