And as Solomon completed praying, the fire came down from the skies and ate the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the weightiness of Yahweh filled the house.
And the priests were not able to go into the house of Yahweh, for the weightiness of Yahweh filled the house of Yahweh.
And all the children of Israel saw the fire come down and the weightiness of Yahweh over the house, and they crouched with faces to the land on the pavement and bowed down, and gave thanks to Yahweh: for he is good, for his loyal love is forever.
And the king and all the people were slaughtering sacrifices before the face of Yahweh.
And King Solomon sacrificed a sacrifice of cattle, twenty-two thousand, and of the flock, one hundred twenty thousand; and the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
And the priests were standing at their posts, and the Levites with the instruments of the song of Yahweh that David the king made to give thanks to Yahweh, for his loyal love is forever, when David praised by their hand; and the priests were blowing trumpets opposite them, and all Israel was standing.
And Solomon set apart the middle of the court that was in front of the house of Yahweh, for there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, for the bronze altar that Solomon had made was not able to contain the burnt offering and the grain offering and the fats.
And Solomon celebrated the festival at that time, the seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great company, from Lebo-hamath to the wadi of Egypt.
And on the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the festival seven days.
And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent away the people to their tents, joyful and glad of heart over the good that Yahweh had done for David and for Solomon and for Israel his people.
And Solomon finished the house of Yahweh and the house of the king, and all that came upon the heart of Solomon to do in the house of Yahweh and in his own house he brought to success.
And Yahweh appeared to Solomon in the night, and he said to him, I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.
If I shut up the skies so that there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to eat the land, or if I send pestilence among my people,
and my people who my name is called over them humbled themselves and prayed my face and will search, and they will return from their evil way: and I will hear from the heavens, and I will forgive to their sin and I will heal their land.
Now my eyes will be opened wide and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place.
And now I have chosen and set apart this house, for my name to be there forever; and my eyes and my heart will be there all the days.
And as for you, if you walk before my face as David your father walked, doing all that I have commanded you, and keep my statutes and my justice,
then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I cut a covenant with David your father, saying, A man who rules in Israel will not be cut off from you.
But if you turn away, you, and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before your face, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them,
then I will uproot them from my ground that I gave them, and this house that I set apart for my name I will throw away from my face, and I will make it a proverb and a taunt among all the peoples.
And this house, which was lofty, everyone who passes by it will be appalled and will say: Why did Yahweh do thus to this land and to this house?
And they will say: Because they forsook Yahweh the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took hold of other gods, and bowed down to them and served them, therefore he has brought upon them all this evil.
