And the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and made him king in place of his father in Jerusalem.
Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
The king of Egypt removed him from reigning in Jerusalem, and imposed a fine on the land of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
The king of Egypt made his brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim; but Necho took Jehoahaz his brother and brought him to Egypt.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh his God.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him and bound him in bronze fetters to take him to Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar also brought some of the articles of the house of Yahweh to Babylon and put them in his temple in Babylon.
And the rest of the words of Jehoiakim, and his abominations that he did, and what was found against him, see, they are written in the scroll of the kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
Jehoiachin was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh.
And at the return of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the precious articles of the house of Yahweh; and he made his relative Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
He did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of Yahweh.
He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning back to Yahweh the God of Israel.
Also all the chiefs of the priests and the people multiplied unfaithfulness upon unfaithfulness, like all the abominations of the nations, and made unclean the house of Yahweh, which he had set apart in Jerusalem.
And Yahweh the God of their fathers sent to them by the hand of his messengers, rising early and sending, for he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.
They kept deriding the messengers of God, despising his words, and mocking his prophets, until the burning anger of Yahweh rose up against his people, until there was no healing.
He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old or gray-haired; he gave everyone into his hand.
And all the articles of the house of God, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and his officials, all of it he brought to Babylon.
They burned the house of God, and tore down the wall of Jerusalem; they burned all its palaces with fire, and all its precious articles, to ruin them.
He took into exile in Babylon the remnant from the sword, and they became slaves to him and to his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to reign.
To fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had paid off its sabbaths. All the days of its desolation, it ceased, to complete seventy years.
And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to complete the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, Yahweh awakened the breath of Cyrus king of Persia, and he sent a sound passing through all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying:
Like this said Cyrus the king of Persia: All the kingdom of the land Yahweh the God of the heavens gave to me, and he visited over me to build to him a house in Jerusalem which in Judah. Who in you from all his people, Yahweh his God with it, and come up.
