Solomon began to build the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where he had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had prepared, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
He began to build in the second month, on the second day, in the fourth year of his reign.
These were laid as the foundation by Solomon for building the house of God: the length in cubits by the first measure was sixty, and the breadth twenty cubits.
And the porch that stood at the face of the length, across the face of the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height a hundred and twenty; and he overlaid it inside with clean gold.
And the great house he overlaid with cypress wood, and he overlaid it with good gold, and brought up onto it palm-like pilasters and chains.
And he overlaid the house with rare stone for beauty, and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
And he overlaid the house, the beams, the thresholds, its walls, and its doors with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls.
And he made the house of the most holy place: its length across the face of the breadth of the house was twenty cubits, and its breadth twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with good gold, to the weight of six hundred talents.
And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold, and the upper rooms he overlaid with gold.
And he made in the house of the most holy place two cherubim, the work of sculpture, and they overlaid them with gold.
And the wings of the cherubim: their length was twenty cubits. The wing of the one, five cubits, touched the wall of the house, and the other wing, five cubits, reached the wing of the other cherub.
And the wing of the one cherub, five cubits, touched the wall of the house, and the other wing, five cubits, clung to the wing of the other cherub.
The wings of these cherubim spread out twenty cubits, and they stood on their feet, with their faces toward the house.
And he made the curtain of violet, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and raised cherubim upon it.
Before the house he made two pillars, thirty-five cubits in length, and the capital that was on top of each was five cubits.
And he made chains in the innermost room and set them on the top of the pillars, and he made a hundred pomegranates and set them on the chains.
And he set up the pillars at the face of the temple, one on the right and one on the left, and he called the name of the right one Jakin and the name of the left one Boaz.
