And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.
He built Elath and returned it to Judah, after the king lay down with his fathers.
Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem; and the name of his mother was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
And he did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Amaziah his father had done.
And he was inquiring of God in the days of Zechariah, who gave understanding in the seeing of God; and in the days of his inquiring of Yahweh, God made him prosper.
And he went forth and fought against the Philistines, and burst open the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities in Ashdod and among the Philistines.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabs who dwell in Gur Baal, and the Meunites.
And the Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah, and his name went as far as the entrance of Egypt, for he displayed strength to the heights.
And Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem, at the gate of the corner and at the gate of the valley and at the corner, and made them strong.
And he built towers in the wilderness and dug many cisterns, for he had much livestock; and in the lowland and in the plain there were farmers, and vinedressers in the mountains and in the orchard land, for he was one who loved the ground.
And Uzziah had an army doing battle, going out to war in bands, by the number of their mustering, by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the official, at the hand of Hananiah, one of the officials of the king.
All the number of the heads of the fathers, of the mighty men of valor, was two thousand six hundred.
And under their hand was an army of war, three hundred thousand and seven thousand five hundred, who made war with the strength of an army, to help the king against the enemy.
And Uzziah prepared for them, for all the host, shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and sling stones.
And he made in Jerusalem devices, the contrivance of an inventor, to be on the towers and on the corners, to shoot arrows and great stones; and his name went out far away, for he was helped wondrously, until he was strong.
But when he was strong, his heart was haughty to the point of ruin, and he acted unfaithfully against Yahweh his God, and he went into the temple of Yahweh to turn to smoke on the altar of incense.
And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him priests of Yahweh, eighty men of strength.
And they took their stand against Uzziah the king and said to him, It is not for you, O Uzziah, to turn to smoke for Yahweh, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who have been set apart to turn to smoke. Go out from the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully, and it will not be for your weightiness from Yahweh God.
And Uzziah raged, and in his hand was a censer to turn to smoke; and as he raged against the priests, the leprosy dawned on his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, by the altar of incense.
And Azariah the head priest and all the priests turned to him, and look, he was leprous on his forehead; and they terrified him away from there, and also he himself hurried to go out, for Yahweh had struck him.
And Uzziah the king was leprous until the day of his death, and he dwelled in a separate house, leprous, for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh; and Jotham his son was over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.
And the rest of the words of Uzziah, the first and the last, Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet wrote.
And Uzziah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the tomb that belonged to the kings, for they said, He is leprous; and Jotham his son reigned in his place.
