Solomon son of David strengthened himself over his kingdom, and Yahweh his God was with him and made him great, ever upward.
Solomon said to all Israel, to the captains of the thousands and the hundreds, and to the judges, and to every leader of all Israel, the heads of the fathers' families.
Solomon and all the company with him went to the high place which was at Gibeon, for there was the tent of the meeting of God, which Moses the slave of Yahweh had made in the wilderness.
But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had established for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
And the altar of bronze which Bezalel the son of Uri the son of Hur had made, he put before the face of the dwelling-place of Yahweh, and Solomon and the company sought it.
And Solomon went up there to the altar of bronze before the face of Yahweh, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered up on it a thousand burnt offerings.
In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, Ask what I shall give you.
Solomon said to God, You have shown great loyal love to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
Now, Yahweh God, let your word with David my father be established, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the land.
Now give me wisdom and understanding, so that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this great people of yours?
God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, and weightiness, nor the living being of those who hate you, and also did not ask for many days, but asked for yourself wisdom and understanding so that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king,
The wisdom and the understanding are given to you, and wealth, riches, and weightiness I will give to you, such as has not been so for the kings who were before you, and after you it will not be so.
Solomon came to Jerusalem from the high place which was at Gibeon, from before the face of the tent of meeting, and reigned over Israel.
Solomon gathered chariotry and horsemen, and he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he settled them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.
The king made the silver and the gold in Jerusalem like the stones, and he made the cedars like the sycamores that are in the Shephelah in abundance.
And the export of the horses that belonged to Solomon was from Egypt and from Que; the king's traders took them from Que for a price.
They brought up and brought out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram, by their hand they brought them out.
