Timothy3

Trustworthy is the saying: If anyone aspires to overseership, he is desirous of a good work.

Therefore it behooves the overseer to be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

not given to wine, but not a striker, not greedy of base gain, gentle, peaceable, not loving money,

managing his own house well, having children in submission with all dignity —

but if one knows not to manage his own household, how will he care for the assembly of God?

not a novice, that not having been puffed up he may fall into the judgment of the accuser.

Now it behooves him also to have a good testimony from those outside, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the accuser.

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not being given to much wine, not greedy of dishonest gain,

holding to the mystery of the trust with a clear conscience.

Also these now should be tested first, then they should serve, being blameless.

Women likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, clear-minded, faithful in all things.

Deacons should be husbands of one wife, well managing their children and their own households.

For those having served well acquire a good standing for themselves and great confidence in the trust that is in the Anointed One Jesus.

These things I am writing to you, hoping to come to you with speed;

however if I shall delay, so that you may know how it behooves one to conduct oneself in the household of God, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth.

And confessedly great is the mystery of godliness: Who was revealed in the flesh, was justified in the Spirit, beheld by messengers, was proclaimed among the nations, was trusted on in the world, was taken up in glory.
