Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to be written to you;
for you yourselves fully know that the day of the Lord comes in this manner, as a thief by night.
For when they may say, "Peace and security," then destruction suddenly comes upon them, as the labor pains to her having pregnancy in the womb, and they shall certainly not escape.
But you yourselves, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day may grasp you like a thief;
for you yourselves are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.
So then, we may not sleep as also the others, but we may watch and we may be sober.
For those sleeping sleep by night, and those becoming drunk get drunk by night;
But we, being of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of trust and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation;
because God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,
the One who, having died for us, so that whether we shall watch or we shall sleep, we may live together with Him.
Therefore encourage one another and build up one the another, even as also you are doing.
But we implore you, brothers, to know those toiling among you and taking the lead over you in the Lord and admonishing you,
and to esteem them beyond measure in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
Now we exhort you, brothers, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient toward all.
See that no one may repay evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue the good toward one another and toward all.
Always rejoice;
unceasingly pray;
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in the Anointed One Jesus toward you.
The Spirit do not quench;
prophecies do not despise;
now test all things; hold fast to the good;
abstain from every form of evil.
Now the God of wholeness Himself would sanctify you completely, and entirely your spirit and the being and the body would be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One.
Faithful is the One who calls you, who also will do it.
Brothers, pray also for us.
Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
I adjure you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy ones brothers.
The favor of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One be with you. Amen. It was written to the Thessalonians first from Athens.
