Peter, a sent one of Jesus the Anointed One, to the chosen sojourners of the Dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctification of the Spirit, unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus the Anointed One: Favor to you, and wholeness be multiplied.
Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, the One who according to his great compassion has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus the Anointed One out from the dead,
to an inheritance imperishable and undefiled and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you,
who by the power of God are being guarded through trust for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last appointed-time;
in which you greatly rejoice for a little while at present, if it is necessary, having been put to grief by various trials,
so that the proven genuineness of your trust, more precious than gold which is perishing though refined through fire, may be discovered toward praise and toward glory and honor in the revelation of Jesus the Anointed One;
whom, not having seen, you love; on whom now, though not seeing, trusting, you yourself rejoice with joy inexpressible and glory-filled,
receiving the outcome of your trust, the salvation of your souls;
concerning this salvation the prophets sought out and searched out diligently, having prophesied of the favor toward you,
inquiring into what or what manner of appointed-time the Spirit of the Anointed One in them was signifying, testifying beforehand the sufferings unto the Anointed One and the glories after these;
to whom it was revealed that not themselves but you they were serving in those things which now have been proclaimed to you through those who brought you good news by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, into which messengers desire to look.
Therefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober-minded, fully set your hope upon the favor which is being brought to you in the revelation of Jesus the Anointed One.
As children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,
but as the One who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct,
because it has been written: Holy you will be, because I myself am holy.
And if you call on as Father the One judging impartially according to the work of each, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your sojourn;
knowing that not by perishable things — by silver or by gold — were you redeemed from your futile manner of life handed down from your fathers,
but by the precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, of the Anointed One,
foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, however revealed in these last of the times for your sake,
who through Him believe in God, the One having raised Him up out from the dead and having given Him glory, so that your trust and hope are in God.
having purified your souls by the obedience to the truth through the Spirit unto sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently out of a pure heart;
born again not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God, forever;
because all flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass; the grass withers and his flower falls away;
but the declaration of the Lord abides forever. Now this is the declaration which has been proclaimed to you as good news.
