Kings6

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel went forth from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month of Solomon's reign over Israel, he built the house for Yahweh.

And the house that King Solomon built for Yahweh: sixty cubits was its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.

And the porch in front of the temple of the house: twenty cubits its length, across the breadth of the house; and ten cubits its breadth, in front of the house.

And he made for the house windows of fixed frames.

Against the wall of the house he built a lean-to round about, against the walls of the house round about, both the temple and the inner sanctuary; and he made sides round about.

The lower lean-to was five cubits in its breadth, and the middle one six cubits in its breadth, and the third seven cubits in its breadth; for he set ledges for the house round about on the outside, so that nothing should take hold in the walls of the house.

And the house, when it was being built, was built of complete quarry stone; and hammers and the axe, any article of iron, were not heard in the house while it was being built.

The entrance of the middle side was at the right shoulder of the house; and by winding steps they would go up to the middle, and from the middle to the third.

And he built the house and finished it, and covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

And he built the lean-to against all the house, five cubits its height, and it took hold of the house with cedar wood.

And the word of Yahweh came to Solomon, saying,

As for this house that you are building: if you walk in my statutes and do my justice and keep all my commands, walking in them, then I will make my word stand with you, which I spoke to David your father.

And I will dwell in the middle of the children of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.

So Solomon built the house and completed it.

And he built the walls of the house inside with cedar ribs; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling he overlaid it with wood inside; and he overlaid the floor of the house with cypress ribs.

And he built twenty cubits from the far end of the house with cedar ribs, from the floor to the walls; and he built for it, inside, an inner sanctuary, the holy place of holy places.

And the house was forty cubits, that is, the temple in front.

And the cedar on the inside of the house was carvings of gourds and bursting flowers; everything was cedar, and no stone was seen.

And he established an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house, within, to put the ark of the covenant of Yahweh there.

And before the inner sanctuary, twenty cubits in length and twenty cubits in breadth and twenty cubits in its height, he overlaid it with closed-up gold, and he overlaid an altar of cedar.

So Solomon overlaid the house inside with closed-up gold, and he passed chains of gold across the front of the inner sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold.

And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until the whole house was finished; and the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary he overlaid with gold.

And in the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of oil wood, ten cubits in its height.

And five cubits was the wing of the one cherub, and five cubits the wing of the second cherub: ten cubits from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing.

And ten cubits was the second cherub: one measure and one shape for the two cherubim.

The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was the second cherub.

And he set the cherubim in the middle of the inner house; and the cherubim spread out their wings, so that the wing of the one touched the wall, and the wing of the second cherub touched the second wall; and their wings in the middle of the house were touching, wing to wing.

And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

And all the walls of the house round about he carved with engraved carvings of cherubim, palm figures, and bursting flowers, inside and out.

And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, inside and out.

And for the entrance of the inner sanctuary he made doors of oil wood; the projecting pilaster and doorposts were a fifth.

And the two doors of oil wood: he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm figures, and bursting flowers; he overlaid them with gold, and beat out the gold over the cherubim and over the palm figures.

And so he made for the entrance of the temple doorposts of oil wood, of a fourth part.

And the two doors of cypress wood: the two sides of the one door were foldings, and the two hangings of the second door were foldings.

And he carved cherubim, palm figures, and bursting flowers, and overlaid them with gold, laid smooth over the carved work.

And he built the inner court with three rows of cut stone and a row of cut cedar beams.

In the fourth year the house of Yahweh was founded, in the month of Ziv.

And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, that is the eighth month, the house was completed with all its words and all its justice; and he built it seven years.
