¹And all Israel had themselves enrolled by genealogy, and see, they are written in the scroll of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were carried into exile to Babylon for their unfaithfulness.

²Now those who dwelt first on their holdings, in their cities, were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim.

³And in Jerusalem dwelt some of the children of Judah, some of the children of Benjamin, and some of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh:

⁴Uthai, son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, of the children of Perez, son of Judah.

⁵And from the Shilonite: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.

⁶And from the children of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brothers, six hundred and ninety.

⁷And of the children of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah.

⁸And Ibneiah son of Jeroham, and Elah son of Uzzi son of Mikri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah son of Reuel son of Ibnijah.

⁹And their brothers, by their generations, were nine hundred and fifty-six. All these men were heads of the fathers, by their fathers' house.

¹⁰And of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jakin.

¹¹And Azariah son of Hilkiah son of Meshullam son of Zadok son of Meraioth son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God.

¹²And Adaiah son of Jeroham son of Pashhur son of Malkijah, and Maasai son of Adiel son of Jahzerah son of Meshullam son of Meshillemith son of Immer.

¹³And their brothers, heads by the house of their fathers, one thousand seven hundred and sixty, mighty men of strength for the work of the service of the house of God.

¹⁴And from the Levites: Shemaiah, son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the children of Merari.

¹⁵And Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica son of Zikri son of Asaph.

¹⁶And Obadiah son of Shemaiah son of Galal son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa son of Elkanah, who dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.

¹⁷And the gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers; Shallum was the head.

¹⁸And until now they have been at the king's gate toward the east; they are the gatekeepers for the camps of the children of Levi.

¹⁹And Shallum son of Kore son of Ebiasaph son of Korah, and his brothers of the house of his father, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent; and their fathers had been over the camp of Yahweh, keepers of the entrance.

²⁰And Phinehas son of Eleazar had been ruler over them before; Yahweh was with him.

²¹Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the door of the tent of meeting.

²²All of them, those who had been chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, numbered two hundred and twelve. They, in their villages, were enrolled by genealogy; David and Samuel the seer founded them in their steadiness.

²³They and their sons were over the gates of the house of Yahweh, the house of the tent, for the watches.

²⁴At the four winds the gatekeepers were: toward sunrise, the sea, the north, and the south.

²⁵And their brothers, in their villages, were to come in for the seven days, from time to time, to be with these.

²⁶For in steadiness they were the four mighty men of the gatekeepers; they, the Levites, were also over the halls and over the treasuries of the house of God.

²⁷And round about the house of God they lodged, for the duty was on them; and they were over the key, and morning by morning.

²⁸And some of them were over the articles of the service, for by number they brought them in, and by number they took them out.

²⁹And some of them were appointed over the articles, and over all the articles of the holy place, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.

³⁰And some of the sons of the priests mixed the ointment of spices.

³¹And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, he the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was in steadiness over the work of the flat cakes.

³²And some of the sons of the Kohathites, some of their brothers, were over the bread of the row, to prepare it sabbath by sabbath.

³³And these are the singers, the chiefs of the fathers of the Levites, in the halls, set free; for by day and night, the work was on them.

³⁴These were heads of the fathers of the Levites, by their generations, heads; these dwelt in Jerusalem.

³⁵And in Gibeon dwelled the father of Gibeon, Jeiel; and the name of his wife was Maacah.

³⁶And his son, the firstborn: Abdon; and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab.

³⁷And Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth.

³⁸And Mikloth fathered Shimeam; and they too, opposite their brothers, dwelled in Jerusalem with their brothers.

³⁹And Ner fathered Kish, and Kish fathered Saul, and Saul fathered Jonathan, Malki-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

⁴⁰And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Meri-baal fathered Micah.

⁴¹And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz.

⁴²And Ahaz fathered Jarah, and Jarah fathered Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri fathered Moza.

⁴³And Moza fathered Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

⁴⁴And Azel had six sons, and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.
