Chronicles5

And the children of Reuben, firstborn of Israel — for he was the firstborn, but when he defiled the couches of his father, his birthright was given to the children of Joseph son of Israel, and he was not to be enrolled by genealogy for the birthright.

For Judah prevailed among his brothers, and from him came a ruler, but the birthright belonged to Joseph.

The children of Reuben, firstborn of Israel: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.

The children of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria carried into exile; he was a prince of the Reubenites.

And his brothers, by their clans, when the lineage was recorded by their generations: the head, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

and Bela son of Azaz son of Shema son of Joel; he was dwelling in Aroer, and as far as Nebo and Baal-meon.

And toward the sunrise he dwelled, as far as the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, for their livestock had multiplied in the land of Gilead.

And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they dwelled in their tents over all the face of the sunrise side of Gilead.

And the children of Gad dwelled opposite them in the land of Bashan as far as Salecah:

Joel the head, and Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat in Bashan.

And their kin, by their fathers' houses: Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jakan, Zia, and Eber, seven.

These were the children of Abihail son of Huri son of Jaroah son of Gilead son of Michael son of Jeshishai son of Jahdo son of Buz.

Ahi son of Abdiel son of Guni was chief of their fathers' house.

And they dwelled in Gilead, in Bashan and its daughter villages, and in all the open pasture lands of Sharon, out to their outer edges.

All of them were enrolled by genealogy in the days of Jotham king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

The children of Reuben, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, from the children of strength, men who carried shield and sword, bent the bow, and were trained for war: forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, going out with the host.

And they made war with the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab.

And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hand, for they cried out to God in the battle, and he was entreated by them, because they trusted in him.

And they took captive their livestock: fifty thousand of their camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep, two thousand donkeys, and a hundred thousand human beings.

For many were slain, and fell, because the battle was from God; and they dwelled in their place until the exile.

And the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelled in the land from Bashan as far as Baal-hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon; they were many.

And these were the heads of their fathers' house: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, men mighty in strength, men of renown, heads of their fathers' house.

But they acted unfaithfully against the God of their fathers, and played the prostitute after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had wiped out from before them.

And roused the God of Israel the breath of Pul king of Assyria and the breath of Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and he carried them into exile, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan, to this very day.
