Chronicles29

And David the king said to all the assembly, Solomon my son, the one whom God has chosen him, is a youth and tender, and the work is great; for the citadel is not for a human, but for Yahweh God.

And with all my strength I have prepared for the house of my God the gold for the gold things, and the silver for the silver things, the bronze for the bronze things, the iron for the iron things, and the wood for the wooden things, stones of onyx and settings, stones of kohl and embroidered work, and every precious stone, and stones of alabaster in abundance.

And moreover, because I delight in the house of my God, I have a treasure of my own, gold and silver that I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the holy place:

three thousand talents of gold, from the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to coat the walls of the houses.

The gold for the gold things, and the silver for the silver things, even for every work by the hand of the artisans. And who will volunteer to fill his hand today for Yahweh?

Then the officials of the fathers volunteered, and the officials of the tribes of Israel, and the officials of the thousands and the hundreds, and the officials of the work of the king.

And they gave for the service of the house of God: gold, five thousand talents and ten thousand darics; silver, ten thousand talents; and bronze, eighteen thousand talents; and iron, a hundred thousand talents.

And those with whom stones were found gave them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

And the people rejoiced over their volunteering, for they volunteered with a complete heart to Yahweh; and also David the king rejoiced with great gladness.

And David blessed Yahweh in the eyes of all the assembly; and David said, Blessed are you, Yahweh, God of Israel our father, from forever to forever.

To you, Yahweh, belong the greatness, the might, the splendor, the eminence, and the majesty; for everything in the skies and on the land is yours. To you, Yahweh, belongs the kingdom, and you lift yourself up over all as head.

Wealth and weightiness come from your face, and you rule over all; in your hand are strength and might, and in your hand it lies to make great and to strengthen all.

And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your splendid name.

But who am I, and who are my people, that we retain the strength to volunteer like this? For everything comes from you, and from your hand we have given to you.

For we are sojourners before your face and resident aliens, like all our fathers; our days on the land are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

Yahweh our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and it is all yours.

And I know, my God, that you test the heart, and you take pleasure in uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have volunteered all these things; and now I have seen your people who are found here with gladness volunteering to you.

Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel our fathers, keep this forever, as the inclination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and establish their heart toward you.

And to Solomon my son, give a complete heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your decrees, and to do all of it, and to build the citadel that I have prepared.

And David said to all the company, Bless Yahweh your God. And all the company blessed Yahweh the God of their fathers, and bowed their heads, and bowed down to Yahweh and to the king.

And they sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh, and brought up burnt offerings to Yahweh on the morrow after that day: a thousand young bulls, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

And they ate and drank before the face of Yahweh on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and anointed him to Yahweh as ruler, and Zadok as priest.

Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king in place of David his father, and succeeded; and all Israel listened to him.

And all the officials and the mighty men, and also all the children of king David, gave their hand under Solomon the king, pledging themselves to him.

And made Yahweh Solomon great exceedingly in the eyes of all Israel, and put on him a royal majesty such as had not been on any king before him over Israel.

And David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.

And the days that he reigned over Israel were forty years: in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three.

And he died in a good old age, satisfied with days, wealth, and weightiness; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

And the words of David the king, the first and the last, behold, they are written down in the words of Samuel the seer, and in the words of Nathan the prophet, and in the words of Gad the seer,

with all his kingdom, and his might, and the times that passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the lands.
