They brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they brought near burnt offerings and peace offerings before the face of God.
When David had finished offering up the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.
And he distributed to every man of Israel, from man even to woman, to each one, a round loaf of bread, a cake, and a raisin-cake.
And he set before the face of the ark of Yahweh some of the Levites as servants, to make remembrance, to give thanks, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:
Asaph the head, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with instruments of harps and lyres, and Asaph sounding aloud with the cymbals.
And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the face of the ark of the covenant of God.
On that day, then, David first appointed giving thanks to Yahweh, by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.
Give thanks to Yahweh, call on his name, make his deeds known among the peoples.
Sing to him, make music to him, talk of all his wonders.
Make your boast in his holy name; let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
Inquire of Yahweh and his strength; search for his face continually.
Remember his wonders that he has done, his portents and the decisions of his mouth,
O seed of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is Yahweh our God; in all the land is his justice.
Remember forever his covenant, the word he commanded, to the thousandth generation,
which he cut with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac,
and he made it stand for Jacob as a statute, for Israel as a covenant forever.
saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the measured portion of your inheritance.
When you were few in number, only a little, and sojourners in it,
They walked about from nation to nation, and from a kingdom to another people.
He did not let anyone oppress them, and he reproved kings on their account:
Do not touch my anointed ones, and to my prophets do no harm.
Sing to Yahweh, all the land; bring good news of his deliverance from day to day.
Recount his weightiness among the nations, his wonders among all the peoples.
For Yahweh is great and to be praised exceedingly, and he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but Yahweh made the skies.
Majesty and splendor are before him, strength and joy are in his place.
Give to Yahweh, families of the peoples, give to Yahweh weightiness and strength.
Give to Yahweh the weightiness of his name; lift up an offering and come before his face; bow down to Yahweh in the splendor of holiness.
Writhe before his face, all the land; even the world is established, it will not be shaken.
Let the skies rejoice and let the land be glad, and let them say among the nations, Yahweh reigns.
Let the sea and its fullness thunder; let the field and all that is in it exult.
Then the trees of the forest will cry aloud for joy before the face of Yahweh, for he is coming to judge the land.
Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love is forever.
And say: Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us and deliver us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name and to boast in your praise.
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from forever to forever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised Yahweh.
He left Asaph and his brothers there before the face of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, to serve before the face of the ark continually, according to the word of each day in its day;
and Obed-edom with their brothers, sixty-eight; and Obed-edom the son of Jedithun, and Hosah, as gatekeepers;
and Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the face of the dwelling place of Yahweh at the high place that was in Gibeon,
to bring up burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of the burnt offering continually, in the morning and in the evening, and for all that is written in the instruction of Yahweh, which he commanded Israel;
and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those who had been chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, for his loyal love is forever;
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, with trumpets and cymbals for those who sound aloud, and the instruments of the song of God; and the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate.
Then all the people went, each man to his house; and David turned around to bless his house.
