Chronicles15

And he made houses for himself in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.

Then David said, “No one is to carry the ark of God except the Levites, for Yahweh chose them to carry the ark of Yahweh and to serve him forever.”

And David assembled all Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of Yahweh to its place, which he had prepared for it.

And David gathered the children of Aaron and the Levites.

For the children of Kohath: Uriel the official, and his brothers, a hundred and twenty.

For the children of Merari: Asaiah the official, and his brothers, two hundred and twenty.

For the children of Gershom: Joel the official, and his brothers, a hundred and thirty.

For the children of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the official, and his brothers, two hundred.

For the children of Hebron: Eliel the official, and his brothers, eighty.

For the children of Uzziel: Amminadab the official, and his brothers, a hundred and twelve.

And David called Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.

And he said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers of the Levites; set yourselves apart, you and your brothers, and bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.

For, because you were not there the first time, Yahweh our God burst out against us; for we did not seek him in the prescribed way.”

So the priests and the Levites set themselves apart to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

And the children of the Levites carried the ark of God, as Moses had commanded, according to the word of Yahweh, on their shoulders with the poles upon them.

And David said to the leaders of the Levites to station their brothers, those who sing, with instruments of song, harps and lyres and cymbals, sounding aloud, lifting the voice high with gladness.

And the Levites set Heman son of Joel, and from his brothers Asaph son of Berekiah, and from the children of Merari their brothers Ethan son of Kushaiah.

And with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.

And those who sing, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were with cymbals of bronze, to sound aloud.

And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah were with harps set to the high voices.

And Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah were with lyres, set to the eight-stringed lyre, to direct.

And Kenaniah, leader of the Levites in the lifting of song, led the instruction in the lifting, for he was discerning.

And Berekiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.

And Shebaniah and Joshaphat and Nethanel and Amasai and Zechariah and Benaiah and Eliezer, the priests, were sounding a clarion call with trumpets before the face of the ark of God, and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark.

And David and the elders of Israel and the leaders of the thousands were the ones going to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the house of Obed-Edom with gladness.

And it was, when God helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, that they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

And David was mantled in a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites who carried the ark, and those who sing, and Kenaniah, the leader of the lifting of song, with those who sing; and upon David was an ephod of linen.

And all Israel were bringing up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with a shout, and with the sound of the horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with harps and lyres.

And it was, as the ark of the covenant of Yahweh was coming to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul leaned over and looked down through the window, and saw the king David leaping and laughing, and she despised him in her heart.
